Could it be used on a roof to secure a firefighter working on a chimney fire ;ie the firefighter would be standing on the top of the ladder secured by a fall arrest harness, as both his hands would be used with equipment to fight the chimney fire or do you have something that could work, if you need more info let me know.

• Q. How does this ladder support the weight of a person on the opposite side of the roof? Is this a counter balance system? At what pitch and on what type of tiles can this be used ?
  A. Gary, many thanks for your enquiry, yes, it is a counter balance system in respect that the operative sits on one side connected with a short lanyard. The Ridge Saddle Ladder will fit all roof above a 25 degree pitch at 5 degree intervals. The Ridge Saddle ladder is supplied with stand off brackets that run horizontally to the pitch of the roof. The RSL was designed to work on all tiled roofs which were installed by Glasgow City Council. If you can find out which tiles you wish to use the RSL on we can decide if the ladder will be suitable. • Q. Is this product suitable for 1 man operations.
  A. The Ridge Saddle Ladder is designed for two man operation as follows.
  
  The general method of use of this ladder can be summarised as follows: The ladder is carried to the ridge of the roof, directly above the skylight, by the first user who is roped back to the secure anchor point within the attic. He opens the ladder and locks it into position over the ridge, with the ladder sections bearing on the slopes of the roof, and sits on the section of the slope opposite the skylight side. The second user connects on the anchor point on the end of the ladder at the skylight and comes out onto the roof with the materials and tools.
  
  To move across the roof the two users roped to each end (anchor points) of the saddle laddder simply lift the laddder clear of the roof surface with both hands and move sideways along the ridge to above the repair position. Once there, the second man simply moves down his long rope via his sliding chuck and carries out the repair. The reverse procedure applies to return to the attic.
